About Cartesia
Our mission is to build the next generation of AI: ubiquitous, interactive intelligence that runs wherever you are. Today, not even the best models can continuously process and reason over a year-long stream of audio, video and text—1B text tokens, 10B audio tokens and 1T video tokens—let alone do this on-device.
We're pioneering the model architectures that will make this possible. Our founding team met as PhDs at the Stanford AI Lab, where we invented State Space Models or SSMs, a new primitive for training efficient, large-scale foundation models. Our team combines deep expertise in model innovation and systems engineering paired with a design-minded product engineering team to build and ship cutting edge models and experiences.
We're funded by leading investors at Index Ventures and Lightspeed Venture Partners, along with Factory, Conviction, A Star, General Catalyst, SV Angel, Databricks and others. We're fortunate to have the support of many amazing advisors, and 90+ angels across many industries, including the world's foremost experts in AI.
Why It's a Rocketship
Why It's a Rocketship
Cartesia is advancing a new architecture tier for real-time generative AI, with voice as its initial focus. The company’s proprietary state space model (SSM) architecture enables ultra-low-latency, high-fidelity audio generation that can run efficiently both in the cloud and on device. Its latest release, Sonic 2.0, is now the fastest and most controllable voice model on the market, offering 90ms latency for the full model and 40ms in turbo mode. In blind evaluations across 100 held-out voices, users preferred Sonic 2.0 over the next best provider 1.5 times more often. The product also introduces advanced features including voice infill and real-time voice style editing.
The platform is already powering millions of voice interactions across use cases in customer support, media, gaming, and content creation. Cartesia’s infrastructure supports enterprise-grade reliability with 99.9 percent uptime, SOC-2 and HIPAA compliance, and support for both on-prem and on-device deployments. The company recently raised a $64 million Series A led by Kleiner Perkins, joining Index Ventures and other early investors. The founding team includes Stanford AI researchers Karan Goel, Albert Gu, Arjun Desai, and Brandon Yang, along with advisor Chris Ré. With deep expertise in model architecture, systems engineering, and applied AI, Cartesia is positioned to become a foundational layer for real-time voice and multimodal intelligence.
